Skiing & Snowboarding

Winter vacationers who wish to spend time in a peaceful, unspoiled mountain valley will love Marble. The peaks surrounding the valley are majestic, snow-covered, and spectacular, and the town still has the sleepy feel of an 1880’s mining town. It’s a great place to spend Christmas or a winter holiday in a truly quiet place. Local recreational opportunities include Nordic skiing, ice skating, sledding, horseback riding, and back-country skiing.

However, world-class alpine skiing and snowboarding is close at hand. It is a mere hour’s drive from Marble to the four mountains at Aspen—Snowmass, Ajax, Aspen Highlands, & Buttermilk. Buttermilk and Snowmass each boast world-class terrain parks for snowboarders and “new school” skiers, and the restaurants, lifts, and terrain are among the world’s best.

For skiers looking for a mountain with a more “down home” family approach, Sunlight Mountain Resort is located just south of Glenwood Springs, about a 50-minute drive from Marble. Lift ticket prices are about half of the Aspen rates, and the terrain is perfect for families of all ability levels.
